Voices from the River

Voices from the River (VftR) is a cultural storytelling and live music initiative that celebrates, preserves, and elevates the rich artistic traditions of communities living along the Kavango River and of all of Africa. The project brings together local musicians, poets, dancers, and storytellers to create original performances inspired by the river’s history, daily life, and cultural identity. Through workshops, rehearsals, and community collaborations, artists develop high quality content that is showcased in a public live performance. At its core, Voices from the River exists to uplift and invest in local artists by giving them a professional platform, expanding their visibility, and creating meaningful opportunities to earn from their talent.
